How Nonprofits Form the Identity of Milwaukee
YWCA: Eliminating Racism and empowering women
The YWCA is a nationwide organization working towards slowly eliminating systematic racism whilst empowering all women and helping to strengthen families and communities. The YWCA of southeast Wisconsin, including Milwaukee, has become an important part of overall community wellness. Much of the work YWCA does is advocacy and lobbying to dismantle systems of oppression.
Martha Barry and Jennifer de Montmollin spoke on the general mission and future direction of YWCA for Milwaukee. They also brought light to the many issues and challenges the organization faces when building towards justice and how YWCA opperates around these challenges.
